Using apps to improve sleep

Apps and devices mostly interfere with good-quality sleep, but some can also help you out.

If getting out of bed is really tough, you could try an app like “Sleep Cycle”. It will not make you sleep more but it will make you feel more rested. The Sleep Cycle alarm clock is a bio-alarm clock that analyses your sleep patterns and wakes you when you are in the lightest sleep phase. Waking up in the lightest sleep phase feels like waking without an alarm clock – it is a natural way to wake up where you feel rested and relaxed.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs developed an app to help their military people improve the quality of their sleep. “CBT i-Coach” draws on standard cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) principles, and includes useful information about sleep, developing positive sleep habits and many tips to improve sleep: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cbt-i-coach/id655918660?mt=8
