The importance of collegial support
Research studies have consistently found collegial support to be a powerful buffer against stress and change at work. By collegial support we mean giving and receiving emotional and practical support and advice.
Feeling connected to colleagues, and enjoying who we work with also helps to make our work days more satisfying and meaningful.
How much contact we like with colleagues and the type of contact is of course a very individual thing. We recommend you have conversations with colleagues about this to help develop good understandings about the mix that’s right for you, and for them. If you find you don’t “fit” very well in your immediate team you may need to find colleagues in another part of the business who you connect better with.
